Progess in my Project on Fabric Manipulation. Handmade Trimmings.


Before the big reveal, here are some of the components to the finishing trims of my box. In the centre of the picture are the layers needed to make these trimmings. A wooden dowel, cut to the right length. A layer of felt, and a layer of lamé. I wrap the dowel in the felt, and tightly wind thread around, as seen at the top of the photo. Then I fold lamé around and stitch in place with gold thread, as seen at the bottom of the photo. I'm hoping to use these rods as a kind of piping, as well as a structural device to hold the box firmly in shape.
